It is common place for exporters and importers to face challenges and lose millions due to ignorance of the risks associated with bills of lading in international trade.

In this evening interaction talk, two experts will share from their wealth of knowledge and experience on the problems associated with bills of lading. Speakers

Siva Kumar Kanagasabai was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in March 1995. Kumar was made a partner of SKRINE in January 2002.

He is currently the Head of SKRINE’s Employment Practice Group and also the Head of the Shipping Practice Group. Apart from Employment and Shipping, Kumar has a broad commercial litigation practice. His broad commercial experience includes general monetary claims, insolvency, company law, insurance and defamation.

He also has wide experience in shipping and maritime matters including handling cargo claims, the arrest of vessels, vessel damage claims arising from negligent loading, charter party disputes, claims against freight forwarders, dealing with legal issues arising from seafarers contracts, enforcement of debenture holders’ rights against vessels, ship mortgage defaults and represent-ing parties in bunker supply contract disputes. Kumar has been named as a leading shipping lawyer in Chambers Asia-Pacific 2014, 2015 & 2016.


Jeremy M Joseph is the Managing Partner of JOSEPH & PARTNERS.

Jeremy originally a marine insurance broker, Jeremy has knowledge of the shipping and insurance industry. His first position in law was at the Singapore office of the international firm Holman Fenwick & Willan where he worked as an associate for several years until he set up Messrs Joseph & Partners in Kuala Lumpur.
