It is our pleasure to let you know that the Kuala Lumpur Admiralty Court User Guide has now been launched by the Chief Justice of Malaysia, Tun Arifin Bin Zakaria on 16 November 2016. The User Guide is a result of the active collaboration between the Bar Council of Malaysia and the Malaysian Judiciary.
The user guide was occasioned by the continuous growth we have enjoyed in the maritime industry. Hence, the establishment of the court was a step in the right direction in order to give speedy attention to disputes arising from the industry. Therefore, this user guide is a product to intimate you with modus operandi of the Admiralty Court. The User Guide is also supported by the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration and the International Malaysian Society of Maritime Law.
In this guide, you will understand in unambiguous terms how the Admiralty Court works and all its rudimentary frameworks. Armed with this knowledge, we expect members of the International Malaysian Society of Maritime Law to take full advantage of the guide it offers to make maximum use of the court.
To put it succinctly, this book is meant to guide us through the general proceedings in the Admiralty Court. It is not meant to replace Order 70 of the Rules of Court 2012 or interfere with any court process (es).
We hope that we all we make a good use of this book for the betterment of our industry.
