Monday 11th April was a milestone in the careers of maritime industry players in Malaysia. On this date, International Malaysian Society of Maritime Law (IMSML) was launched by our Patron and the former Chief Justice of Malaysia, Yg Bhg Tun Zaki Bin Tun Azmi.
Prior to this time, maritime industry players in Malaysia operated independently. Everyone worked in isolation and operated their rules. Needless to say, this made it difficult for the maritime industry players in Malaysia to have a common voice and pursue their common interest. With the launching of International Malaysian Society of Maritime Law (IMSML), it’s the dawn of a new era for maritime industry players in Malaysia. Part of the reasons for the formation of this organization is to bring maritime industry players in Malaysia together under one umbrella. By so doing, they will be able to put heads together to address the problems confronting their sector. Among other things, the International Malaysian Society of Maritime Law (IMSML) is expected to pursue the interest of practitioners of the maritime sector while providing guidelines to uphold the best practices in the sector.
